Aesop The Strand
Sydney, NSW 2000
An homage to local heritage
Designed in partnership with Rodney Eggleston of Melbourne-based March Studio, Aesop The Strand is a distinctly contemporary addition to the heritage-listed location, blending alabaster, cooling green hues and amber glass.
Inspiration began with small round ceramic tiles and two significant porcelain pieces—an India Mahdavi Bishop stool and a lamp by Jaime Hayon. Contrasted by the lime-washed timber flooring, extensive use of porcelain references the floors of the surrounding arcade. A bold sweeping wall of product shelving complements the curvature of a tile-clad counter, effecting a visual break from an otherwise busy precinct.
